Backstage Access at Rihanna’s Fenty x PUMA NYFW Runway Show

 

Eclectic Chic is so excited to share with you some of the key highlights from Rihanna’s Fenty x PUMA New York Fashion Week runway show! As someone who is an avid daredevil (Eclectic Chic readers know of my adrenaline junkie adventures, including skydiving, shark cage diving, water jet packing, ziplining, etcetera) this runway show did not fail to disappoint. The presentation opened as the models entered the Park Avenue Armory, while motocross stuntmen simultaneously rode into the venue and completed a 360-degree mid-air flip! This completely exceeded all of my expectations and set the tone for the entire event…and don’t worry. I did not forget to give you a sneak peek into Eclectic Chic’s VIP backstage experience with Rihanna, the designs, models and exclusive product giveaways!

Pictured above and below, you will see the beautiful Adriana Lima and the other models strut the runway! After the show, Eclectic Chic got VIP access backstage and saw Adriana Lima (also known for her Angel status and confident walks on Victoria’s Secrets’ runway). I admit, I fanned out a little and said, “Ahh! Adriana! It’s you!” because I did not expect to see her backstage. She was just as kind and down-to-earth as she is gorgeous!

One of the highlights of the show, was Rihanna riding in on a motorcycle after the final walk! So epic!!

I have always been a big fan of Rihanna! Her music is amazing and has set the stage for a lot of my big life adventures and experiences. She has also been a wonderful example of what it means to be ‘unapologetically me’. Rihanna is beautiful, genuine, smart and an unapologetic Bad Gal! Congratulations Rihanna on a wonderful show and your business successes!​

Model Lineup for Fenty x PUMA Runway Show

Rihanna selected a diverse range of men and women of all different colors and shades to grace her Fenty x PUMA show. Many Eclectic Chic readers know some of the struggles and hurt I have faced while being overlooked as a Black female in the modeling industry. I have been removed from casting calls, due to the casting agents blatantly requesting only Caucasian/White models for their photoshoots. I have even been told, by one of my previous booking agents, that I would not get sent out to many casting calls, or book many jobs because designers, casting directors and producers do not want Black models. This is extremely discouraging and disappointing to say the least. Rihanna, however, did a fantastic job of showcasing an “eclectic” variety of ethnicities and looks! It made the runway show that much more enjoyable, and I loved it! I did not think that I could become a bigger fan of Rihanna’s…but I definitely am now.

Not only was there a lot of diversity in the models, but also in the designs. The unique clothing (pictured above and on the runway) showcased bright colors and and a variety of shades and hues that were aesthetically pleasing.

Eclectic Chic Backstage at Rihanna’s Fenty x PUMA NYFW Show

At the end of the night, these beautiful Fenty Beauty gift bags were passed out to the attendees backstage. Eclectic Chic is so excited to be one of the first to get this exclusive sneak peak into Rihanna’s beauty line. My first impressions of the products are that they are packaged beautifully, and smell amazing…which is a plus for me. The names are also catchy and easy to remember.

Rihanna has made it known that she was mindful to create a makeup line that would incorporate the many different shades and colors that make our world so unique and beautiful. Many times, when I am getting ready for a runway show, photoshoot, or to be on film for a movie or commercial, the MUA will have to mix different shades of foundation together to match my light brown complexion. Rihanna has created 40 shades of foundation to accommodate this need. I cannot wait to try the foundation, and other products in this new beauty line.
