As an agency-signed runway and print model, I have had the pleasure of working with many designers, stylists, photographers and producers from all over the world. Every model dreams of walking in New York Fashion Week. This Fall, that dream came true for me! After traveling back and forth between casting calls, designer meetings, model fittings, and rehearsals, I am so excited to have been booked for New York Fashion Week by 5 designers! Eclectic Chic is providing you with a quick sneak peek into moments on the runway and behind the scenes during NYFW.
Eclectic Chic readers know that my favorite quote is “Today’s dream sets the foundation for tomorrow’s reality” – Unknown. The first design that I wore was a perfect demonstration of why I love this quote. Pictured below is the fashion sketch by Australian designers, Subi T & Nishant S of DMOD. The video above features me twirling in this brought-to-life design. This long, elegant gown is a “chic” black color with gold and silver metallic detailing! It was a beautiful design that I loved modeling.
Pictured above and below are the 2 outfits that I modeled from designer Andre Bryson’s Dusk to Dawn line featured during SS2018 NYFW.
Pictured above is me wearing one of Siamilan’s designs and posing with a fellow model. I loved the energy and diversity of the models featured in this presentation. This mini dress was a really fun design to model…it made me want to shimmy, shimmy, shimmy down the runway! Pictured below is a selfie of me moments before going onto the runway. I was approached by the designer, only moments prior to this picture being taken, and was requested to wear this design. Since I had already finished my walks for the 5 designers that booked me, I agreed to do one final walk in this beautiful light blush evening gown.
Note: Oftentimes, I am approached by individuals who are looking for words of wisdom to help with their modeling career. I would love to share some of this insight with my Eclectic Chic readers in a future post, so stay tuned! In the meantime, a very simple but very important piece of advice I would give to anyone wanting to experience success in the fashion industry…be someone who others enjoy working with! I have had the pleasure of working with some really professional and genuinely nice models, photographers, designers, MUAs, HMUAs, casting directors and producers that I am lucky enough to also call friends. However, I have occasionally come across the pageant girl or model who has a really bad attitude and exudes that off-putting “prima donna” aura. The fashion industry is small, and it feels wonderful when you book a job based off of a previous job you successfully completed. Or when you get another chance to work with a fellow model or makeup artist that you had a good conversation with and developed a good working relationship with. Professionalism and kindness are key. I am glad that I was able to assist this designer, and step in last minute to model her beautiful design pictured below.
This has been one of the busiest days I have ever experienced in my life, but I loved every second of it! Which designs are your top favorites? Let me know what you think in the comments below. Now it’s time to check into my suite here at The Stewart Hotel! This fashion week dream has become a reality…but there are many more dreams to be had. That being said, “good night and sweet dreams” from Eclectic Chic!
