To The Spa We Go!
Happy Self-Care Saturday! Eclectic Chic™ would like to send a big “thank-you” to reader, Jess from Intentional Families. Jess, who is also a fellow therapist and blogger, commented under my Therapy Thursday post, “What I’ve Learned As A Child & Family Therapist”. Jess made a request for me to share ways in which I am able to cope with hearing traumatic events that are oftentimes raised during therapy sessions. Well, you’ve got it Jess! Awesome recommendation!
In short, my personal answer to this question is self-care. This is a term that many of us are very familiar with, but sometimes have difficulty with incorporating into our routines. Eclectic Chic updates readers during Makeup and Beauty Mondays, Travel Tuesdays, Whatever You Would Like to Know Wednesdays, Therapy Thursdays, Fashion Fridays…and now, Self-Care Saturdays. Follow this journey and enjoy reading about the many ways that you can feel refreshed and restored through self-care.
Chic and Mysterious Architecture
For my first Self-Care Saturday post, I am inviting you into my recent spa day, where I enjoyed a much needed full-body massage. This spa is located right in downtown Birmingham, Michigan. The forest green vines growing up the outer walls, and the chic and mysterious architecture illustrates a setting that makes me feel far away from all of my concerns and worries. Let’s take a peek inside.
Inside the Spa
Teatime Anyone?
There’s nothing like the feeling of being met with a nice hot and flavorful cup of tea and cookies to soften and lift the spirits. Drinking tea is a cost-effective comfort that I incorporate into my daily routine. I always have a cup of tea with my breakfast. It is the last thing that I enjoy before heading out the door for work. Teatime is my “me” time. What’s yours?
Reading Nooks & Natural Light Windows
I love reading nooks. Let me repeat that. I absolutely LOVE reading nooks. I am currently in the process of looking for and buying my first home. One of the top things on my wish list is a reading nook. Does anyone else feel like a cozy cat while lounging in a nook like this one? Definitely on my “future home” vision board.
When I booked this massage, I knew that it was incredibly needed. I had experienced a very tough few weeks, and felt entirely depleted. As a therapist, I put 110% into supporting and making myself available for sessions for my clients. I found myself attending back-to-back meetings and sessions, from 9am until evening sessions, to accommodate my client’s schedules. After a month, I had to acknowledge that my tank was all the way on E. I had not been taking any time to replenish myself. A massage was the perfect solution.
Let me tell you guys. The massage was AMAZING. Margaret, the masseuse, was friendly and had a very tranquil aura. She paid special attention to the areas where I had the most tension. She even incorporated reiki healing and affirmations into the experience, which was a real treat. I felt entirely refreshed. The weeks following my massage, I felt like I was more productive and creative. How do you feel when you’ve taken time for self-care?
Eclectic Chic Interiors
This spa has been newly renovated, and I absolutely love all of the updates that were done. From the bright teals, greens and golds that swam up and down the walls to form a beautiful mosaic design in the main office; to the more neutral and relaxing earth tones within the reading nook area, these interiors beautifully executed the concept of “eclectic chic”. Well done!
Feeling Thankful and Blessed
Knitted throws, plush couch chairs, and warm colored stringed lights create an atmosphere that encourages the opening and calming of one’s senses. I enjoyed relaxing in this room prior to and after my massage.
…And One More For The Road
I’m not ready to go back into the real world, I thought to myself. I took my time and enjoyed one more cup of tea and some lemon drops in the front lobby before I left. I was mindful to take my time and be present in the moment and this experience. It’s important that we provide ourselves with grace and patience to take time for ourselves. This is an integral part of self-care.

This afternoon, I got to enjoy the very lovely bridal shower of my dear friend, Zera. She is so kind and I am so happy for her!! I am still incredibly full from all of the delectable foods and desserts that were served at the shower, so I will be going to sleep soon. Good night, and enjoy the rest of your weekend! Be sure to set aside some time for you! You deserve it!

Hello ,
I saw your tweets and thought I will check your website. Have to say it looks very good!
I’m also interested in this topic and have recently started my journey as young entrepreneur.
I’m also looking for the ways on how to promote my website. I have tried AdSense and Facebok Ads, however it is getting very expensive.
Can you recommend something what works best for you?
Would appreciate, if you can have a quick look at my website and give me an advice what I should improve: http://janzac.com/
(Recently I have added a new page about FutureNet and the way how users can make money on this social networking portal.)
I have subscribed to your newsletter. 🙂
Hope to hear from you soon.
P.S.
Maybe I will add link to your website on my website and you will add link to my website on your website? It will improve SEO of our websites, right? What do you think?
Regards
Jan Zac
