Detroit Hustles Harder
Happy Fashion Friday the 13th! Cue the eerie music and black cat running across your path…just kidding! Seriously though, I’m really excited to share this blog post with you, which shows how I incorporated the Detroit Hustles Harder brand into one of my favorite casual summer looks!

So if you’re like me, and LOVE going to all of the festivals that Michigan has to offer, then you have definitely seen the Detroit Hustles Harder clothing brand. I first saw this amazing crop top while I was with my co-workers at the Pig and Whiskey festival in Ferndale, Michigan a couple of summers ago. Usually, if I see something I really like, I will go home and “sleep on it” before buying anything new. I’m not sure if it was the sweltering Michigan heat, the brisket sandwich I had just devoured (hence, the “pig” of the Pig and Whiskey festival), or something else entirely…but, when I approached the DHH stand and saw this tropical-esque Detroit Hustles Harder crop top, I knew I had to have it.
So, what in the world am I going to pair this crop top with?, I thought to myself as I rummaged through my closet hoping the perfect piece would appear before my eyes to accompany my newest purchase. My own fashion rule of thumb is if I am showing off my long legs, then I like to keep my neckline area covered. If I have midriff showing in my ensemble, then I typically shy away from wearing a skirt or shorts that are too short…just to keep a nice balance.
Lo and behold, I reached into my closet, and out emerged one of my favorite warm, golden mustard maxi skirts that I had bought from Urban Outfitters. This skirt brings a pop of sexy to the look with tasteful symmetrical slits on either side. Its high waisted style revealed a nice peek-a-boo slither of midriff that lets you know that it’s summertime!
Excuse Me While I Adjust My Sunglasses
I topped the look off with a comfy and affordable pair or criss-cross burgundy stilettos and Henri Bendel 70s style sunglasses. Now I don’t usually splurge on sunglasses, due to my inability to keep them in their case, resulting in them getting crushed and swallowed in a sea of items within my oversized tote (I have to remember, “Off my face. In the case.” Repeat. “Off my face. In the case”). I’m that girl who will rock a $10 pair of sunglasses and feel confident and chic. However, I love these pale green Henri Bendel sunglasses, priced at $99 (I’m pretty sure I got them in-store for $89 at the Somerset Collection)! 2 summers later, I have gotten my money’s worth and I’m still going strong with my love affair with these sunglasses…and yes, I have kept them in their case when they’re not on my face. Who says you have to dump your clothes and accessories after only one season? Not I!

I’m a cheapo sunglass buyer too. I would be so afraid to spend anything more than $15 on a pair of sunglasses because I KNOW they would go missing two day later haha. Glad to see yours are still with ya!
