Mickey’s Halloween Party
Guess what today is….??? Halloween!!! Whether or not you celebrate Halloween, it is a fun opportunity to dress up as your favorite character and yes, get a nice sugar buzz eating your favorite candy bars. Guilt-free candy bars of course!
Since I was a little girl, I have always enjoyed dressing up for Halloween! A peacock, a fairy, the pink power ranger, a rainbow, Black Widow, a crayon. Yes, I have had a wide range of costumes that I have both bought and hand sewn in preparation to celebrate this holiday in style. Although I typically dress up as “sweet-tooth friendly” characters, I wanted to pay homage to one of my favorite evil villains for this year’s Halloween festivities. Can you guess who I dressed up as???
“If I Don’t Scare You, No Evil Thing Will…”
I was the infamous Cruella De Vil. Cue evil laugh….muahahahahaaa!!!! “Darling, where are the puppies? Where are they? Where are they?” I know what you’re thinking. To answer your question, “yes” that was spoken in a true Cruella De Vil British accent, which I pride myself on having practiced ever since I chose this abrasive, condescending and relentess, yet de-vilishly chic villain to portray at Mickey’s Halloween party. That brings me to my next point. Yes I did receive an invitation to Mickey’s infamous Halloween party!
Trick Or Treat
Last year this time, I was fortunate enough to work the auto show in Anaheim. I enjoyed going to Downtown Disney the day I flew into California from Michigan. Although we had a great time, my friend, Leah (who also works for the auto show) and I were really bummed that the tickets for Mickey’s Halloween Party were sold out. Yes, sold out. We promised one another that if we were lucky enough to be scheduled for the Anaheim show again next season, that we would get our tickets ahead of time so we could enjoy the party. Lo and behold, we were scheduled for Anaheim again this year…YAY!!! You know what that means? Mickey’s Halloween Party, here we come!!

Cruella, and her Wonderland friends, our majesty Queen of Hearts (my friend Leah) and the Mad Hatter (my friend Taylor), had a wonderful time at Mickey’s Halloween Party! This post will give you an inside peak into the festivities that went on during our time at Disneyland! Enjoy!
Our awesome golden tickets, aka our party passes, not only granted us admission into Mickey’s Halloween Party, but also into the Disney California Adventure theme park! This was such a nice surprise! We raced to this side of Disneyland to check out the fun rides and attractions before the sun set and the party began.
Pixar Pier
Mickey and I go waaaaaay back. We’ve got a 23 year long relationship. The first time I went to Disneyland, I was 4 years old. Every time I’ve gone with my parents and friends, Mickey and his Disney friends are so hospitable. Hey Mickey! Thanks so much for the invite to your Halloween party! We had so much fun and hopefully we’ll get to see you again next year!
Then & Now
On Halloween night, you must always be aware of your surroundings and who may be lurking around the corner, or right behind you even! I don’t know about you, but I would like to keep my head thank-you very much!
Aaaaaaaaah!!!! The Headless Horseman!!
Never Let Them See You Sweat!
While at California Adventure, we went on Ariel’s Undersea Adventure ride! “Yes please! I’m in!” said my inner 4 year old. Did you guys know that when I was little, The Little Mermaid was my absolute favorite Disney movie of all time? I even had a Little Mermaid themed birthday party….and I remember it being quite epic! Even now as an adult, I love The Little Mermaid story and Ariel is one of my favorite Disney princesses.
Why was Ariel my favorite Disney princess? Well, let’s start with the obvious. She had a curious mind, a sense of wanderlust, and a desire to explore the world outside of the comfort of her own kingdom. That takes a lot of guts for a princess, who is protected from all of life’s woes, to risk it all for the opportunity to acquire more knowledge and lifelong adventures. Being a bit of a rebel, she wasn’t afraid to go against the grain. Check and check! Sounds like a good foundation for a strong female protagonist. Above all, what I love about this story is the underlying message that the seduction of the possibility of love and romance should never outweigh one’s right to stay true to oneself. In fact, it showed how keeping one’s voice is what will attract who’s for you, right to you. Long story short, the moral of the story ladies is to not give up your voice under any circumstances. Any. Don’t listen to that Ursala. Sing Ariel!!!

Ignorance Is Bliss
Look which villain I found. It’s Gaston! Gaston looks like he’s been bench pressing every day, doesn’t he? You know how people alternate between leg day, arm day and abs at the gym? I bet he does arm day every day #bicepgoals….but ladies and gents, you will have to now put your eyeballs back into their sockets. Gaston made it very clear that he is a “taken man” and that he only has eyes for Belle. Does anyone want to burst the poor guy’s bubble and tell him that Belle is in a happy relationship with the Beast? We’ll let him enjoy Halloween in ignorant bliss before we let him know.
The Queens of Hearts
Twinning!! Who wore it best? Both of these queens look amazing, don’t they? Gaston and the Queen of Hearts were not the only villains out and about during the party. We got a sneak peek at the Evil Queen from Snow White, Captain Hook, Maleficent, Cinderella’s stepmother and stepsisters, Jafar, and yours truly, Cruella De Vil! I was trying to get close to my Cruella twin to see if she wanted to join forces and go in halfsies on a Dalmatian coat. She was so popular, however, that it was difficult to get up close to her to ask what she thought. I guess my inquiry will have to wait until the Villain’s Parade.
What’s Brewing In That Potion?
Do you want a cup or bowl of whatever’s in this cauldron? I do love a good candied apple, but “No, thank-you. I’ll pass”.
Once the sun set and the moon came out, that’s when we began to camp out at Sleeping Beauty’s Castle for the fireworks show. The Halloween Screams spectacular fireworks display was the absolute best I’ve ever seen. All of the villains tried to outdo one another with their firework solos. If I were the judge, I would say it’s a tie between Ursula the sea witch, and Jack Skellington, the king of Halloween Town. Just for the fireworks alone, I highly recommend grabbing your tickets for this seasonal party.
Hello! Is Anyone Home?
Is Sleeping Beauty’s castle not absolutely breathtaking at nighttime. It was fun not only seeing the fireworks, but also walking the castle. We didn’t spot the prince or princess, but we were good house guests nonetheless.
It’s Always Teatime
The teacup ride is a classic! We could not end our night without riding this ride. The cherry on top was being able to enjoy it with my own Alice in Wonderland crew. What is your favorite ride at Disneyland?
The Nightmare Before Christmas
I faced my fears, and went inside the haunted mansion. I strategically placed myself between the Mad Hatter and my Queen of Hearts, so that nothing could grab me or spook me. Luckily, it wasn’t so scary! Whew! Did I tell you that we got to be big kids and trick-or-treat too! Shout out to the Disneyland employees who made sure to give me my favorite candy bars. Fun-size crunch bars, snickers, and sour patch straws! What’s your favorite candy or Halloween treat?
That’s it Eclectic Chic family. I hope you all have a happy and safe Halloween…and that you get all of the candy your heart desires!
