Happy Fashion Friday Eclectic Chic Fam! I hope you all are finding ways to stay nice and warm during this extremely cold weather. For me, I am writing this blog post from my toasty hotel room in the Grand Rapids area…I just wrapped up day 3 of working as a product specialist for the Michigan Auto Show. This first day of February is proving to be incredibly icy and chilly outside, and I refuse to subject myself to this hostile weather if I don’t have to. So, I have indulged in room service consisting of a three-cheese grilled cheese sandwich, tomato soup, and topped it all off with a dark chocolate chip cookie…a la mode of course. I don’t know about you, but this meal is the perfect survival kit, right?!? However, comfort foods and cranking up the heat are not the only ways to stay warm this winter. Having the right wardrobe can take you a long way, too. In this post, I’m going to share with you my top 5 favorite over-the-knee boots for the winter season, and how to incorporate them into your fashion.
As you can tell, blue has become my new favorite winter color. These lace up, royal blue Chinese Laundry boots are made of a classic suede material. It has a modest, yet bold, chunky heel that creates a statement while still being comfortable. It has a cool, posh feel that can slide neatly over a pair of tight pants or leggings. In the picture above, I am wearing a neutral grey colored skinny pants, black leather gloves, a deep blue winter coat, and the multi-colored earmuffs featured in Eclectic Chic’s recent Fashion Friday blog post, Cable Knits, Beanies and Berets Galore!
I cannot begin to tell you the amount of compliments I get while wearing these boots. The black suede material is chic and sophisticated; while the flowers adorning the side of the boot cause it to have a whimsical air. Like the first pair I described in this post, this pair of boots has a practical chunky heel with a subtle hint of sexiness, while still being comfortable and walkable. These boots are very versatile. I have worn these boots with a professional black turtleneck and pants to my office when I see clients for therapy sessions. On the other hand, I’ve also worn these boots out with friends for luncheons and dinner dates. These boots are a walking illustration that can tell many different stories in a variety of different settings. Feel free to mix and match articles of clothing in your closet when choosing what to wear with these boots.
These Marc Jacob Yuna narrow-calf style boots are my absolute favorite. I have this style in both grey (pictured towards the end of this blog post), burgundy (pictured above), and navy blue. These boots are flat, which makes them great for traveling. Speaking of traveling, less than a week ago, when I was flying from the Houston Auto Show back home to Michigan…guess what I was wearing? These Marc Jacob boots in grey. I easily pulled them off and put them back on while going through TSA. Piece of cake! On top of that, I get chilly pretty easily. So, I appreciate the fact that you can put a thick pair of fuzzy socks on underneath these Yunas that keep your legs and feet warm. When I’m wearing these boots in burgundy, I like to wear small hints of burgundy in my look to match. For instance, I will usually apply my MAC matte lipstick in Diva. This color is a regal, deep burgundy. I also wear my Henri Bendel beanie that has a slight stripe of burgundy going around the outside of the hat. Tres chic!
These boots were actually a present from my mom. While shopping, my mom will go out with a few things on her list and end up coming back with 5 new things for me. She loves finding cute clothes that she thinks will fit my style. Thanks mom! Anyways, back to the boots. These Guess brand boots in Lilla are lightly dusted with petite, round gold studs evenly distributed on the surface. Now these boots are not for the faint of heart! These are only for the big girls and big boys out there. I’m just kidding…so dramatic! Haha! Seriously, though. This heel has about 3-4 inches of a stiletto heel on them. These Lilla’s can add a bit of sexiness to the look without going overboard. I’ve paired these beauties with a sleek and mature looking black cape (below) for a professional meeting at work; and also with my fierce Cheetah bomber jacket (above) to keep me cozy during a Friday night dinner with friends. Versatility is key when choosing your footwear. The more ways you can dress them up or down, the better.
Did you just do a double take? You might feel like you’re having deja vu. I assure you, it’s not all in your head. Here are the Marc Jacobs Yuna boots that you saw earlier in the burgundy color. The grey color brings a cool, zen feel to my looks. In the pics above, you will see that I paired these Yunas with a black knit turtle neck and a loose grey beanie with a black mesh bow. When I match colors, like in this look with the grey beanie, pants, and boots, I enjoy integrating different hues of the same color to create an understated theme. In my look below, I switch it up a bit by wearing a cream coat with light pink pom pom beret. Who wore it best?
There you have it. Eclectic Chic’s 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 top favorite winter over-the-knee boots. We’re working our way through the winter ensemble, so keep your eyes open for the next Fashion Friday feature that shares how to wear winter coats without looking bulky. Easier said than done, right? Anyways, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Until next time!
