Happy Makeup and Beauty Monday Eclectic Chic family! I hope you all are enjoying your week so far! This Eclectic Chic beauty feature reviews Loreal’s new Lash Serum Solution that I received complimentary as a member of the Influenster community. This product has the “lash-caring complex” containing glycerin, pro-vitamin B5, hyaluronic acid, madecassoside, and arginine. Awesome! The instructions prompt users to apply the lash serum morning and nighttime to the lash line and outward onto the lashes. The creators also state that this formula is ophthalmologist tested, suitable for contact lens, and suitable for sensitive eyes. This information was very comforting due to me mostly wearing contact lenses during the week (and sometimes on the weekend…when I’m taking it easy and relaxing in my glasses). Loreal implies positive results from using this product, by stating right on the packaging the results of sample studies, including: 1. 7 out of 10 women saw less lash loss during makeup removal; and 2. lash line and fringe appears denser and thicker after 4 weeks use. Sounds good to me. So, what did I think about this product? Keep reading to find out what my results were.
First off, I will tell you that my lashes have always been very thick, and extremely curly. Growing up, a lot of my friends would ask what I would do to get my eyelashes to look so thick and curly, and were confused when I shared with them that I’ve never used an eyelash curler before…almost in disbelief. Maybe it’s genetics, or the fact that it’s known that I am terrified of that steel, intimidating looking tool coming anywhere near my eyes (I would like to keep my both of my eyes thank-you very much), but I am happy that I lucked out with the eyelashes I have. I enjoy occasionally wearing mascara for an extra pop of glam and volume, but it is not a necessity within my daily makeup routine. So let’s try this serum, and see if it can take my length and volume to the next level.
First off, my first observation was that it took a lot of effort to get the serum onto the brush portion of the applicator. I expectantly twisted the applicator, 1 time…2 times…3 times…4. With one eye closed and one eye open, I looked at the serum wand as I continued to twist. “Hello”. “Are you there?” The product was delayed a bit, so after multiple turns of the applicator, a big gob of product appeared instantaneously, weighing down the bristles on the applicator. Not such a smooth start, but let’s keep plugging and chugging along, shall we. I lightly tapped the brush with the product on the lash line of my right and left eyes, then proceeded to smooth and evenly disperse the product. I’ll admit, that I was hesitant to try this new lash serum, because I do have fairly sensitive eyes, and find that eye creams and lash serums often irritate my eyes and cause them to water uncontrollably. When I applied the Loreal Lash Serum Solution to my lash line and lashes, I found the substance to be very cool and mild. No irritation. No tearing up. Wonderful! I also liked the fact that I could wear mascara on top of this solution. However, I felt that because this solution is quite viscous, it was hard to apply my mascara on top without it looking chunky. Nonetheless, I continued to apply morning and night for a few weeks (with a couple of days that I missed here and there). In all honesty, I did not observe a huge difference or improvement in my lash volume or length. It had a somewhat neutral affect on me. I did not see the product hindering my lash growth nor accelerating it. I would be really curious and interested to see observations that other individuals with varying types of eyelash length and growth types have seen with using this product.
