Straight From Rihanna’s NYFW Runway Show: Fenty Beauty Product Review

Hi there lovelies! Happy Makeup and Beauty Monday!! This product review blog post is way overdue. At the end of the night, immediately following Rihanna’s fall New York Fashion Week runway show, these beautiful Fenty Beauty gift bags were passed out to myself and the other VIP attendees backstage. Eclectic Chic™ was so excited to be one of the first to get this exclusive sneak peak into Rihanna’s beauty line. Ever since I shared my BACKSTAGE ACCESS AT RIHANNA’S FENTY X PUMA NYFW RUNWAY SHOW  blog post, I have been eager to do a product review for you all. My first impressions of the products are that they are packaged beautifully, and smell amazing…which is a plus for me. The names are also catchy and easy to remember. Rihanna has made it known that she was mindful to create a makeup line that would incorporate the many different shades and colors that make our world so unique and beautiful. Many times, when I am getting ready for a runway show, photoshoot, or to be on film for a movie or commercial, the MUA will have to mix different shades of foundation together to match my light brown complexion. Rihanna has created 40 shades of foundation to accommodate this need. I cannot wait to try the foundation!

So you all know that bright pinks and bold red lip colors give me life! However, I’ve made room on my vanity for this neutral, glossy Universal Lip Luminizer. I love the understated sparkles and clear tones that allow my natural lip color to shine through. This nude lipgloss was the perfect pair to my dark cherry and milk chocolate halo smokey eye look featured in my YouTube video.

I used the Shimmer Skinstick as a highlighter, instead of my usual blush, to accent the bridge of my nose, my chin and my cheekbones. The skinstick had a nice, smooth texture that was easy to apply. All of the products were sleek and lightweight. As the day went on, I was surprised that I did not feel this makeup clog my pores. Instead, the products provided a subtle enhancement that rested comfortably on my skin to produce a natural, “chic” look.

Owning the perfect gold highlighter makes the world go round. The Freestyle Highlighter in Trophy Wife presented a gold color with sparkles that radiated effortlessly from its outer shell compact. I lightly placed the highlighter on the areas where I also applied the skinstick, including the bridge of my nose, the tip of my chin and my cheekbones. I blended out the products in between applications with my favorite, fluffy blending brush. This gave my makeup look a nice pop that accentuated my features. However, you know the saying, “everything in moderation”? Well, this is no exception. Be careful not to apply too much of the freestyle highlighter. If you do, you may risk shining a bit too brightly like the sun, and blinding others when they look directly at you. You’ve been warned…

NOTE: Please use any highlighter with caution. 

Now I admit, I was a bit intimidated when I saw the Blotting Powder. Although I had been vaguely introduced to this type of product during my pageant days, I hadn’t paid much mind to it. I saved the blotting powder for the very end of my makeup look. This, of course, raised the stakes that much more. Knowing that I could completely ruin my whole makeup look with this unassuming, pure white powder if I did not use it correctly made me proceed with caution. Ever so carefully, I took the Portable Touch Up Brush and used it to swiftly sweep a small amount of the blotting powder under my eyes and above my cheekbones. Although I did not see a significant difference in my makeup look, the blotting powder did not hinder my look either. What do you think? Did I use this product correctly? I took an infrared afterglow Yin style yoga class earlier this evening, to unwind from today’s therapy sessions and meetings. It was incredibly relaxing to say the least, and I am fighting off the sleepiness to finish this post to share with you all.
